  • By commencing tuition with Clever Owl Maths you are agreeing to these Terms & Conditions.

    • Payment for all lessons must be received in advance. Invoices are due on 1st of every month where paid monthly, or on a Monday where paid weekly. Clever Owl Maths may cancel lessons or end tuition if invoices are not paid on time.

    • Families must give one month’s notice if they wish to end tuition. Clever Owl Maths must also give one month’s notice if tuition is to end before a natural stopping point (e.g. exams).

    • 48 hours notice is needed of any cancellation. Cancellation with less than 48 hours notice is chargeable at the ordinary lesson rate.

    • For 1:1 lessons, if cancellation is made with at least 48 hours notice, then Clever Owl Maths will offer an alternative lesson day/time if possible, or an online lesson if appropriate. If no alternative arrangements can be made, then you will receive a credit on your next invoice for that lesson.

    • No more than one missed lesson will be refunded in any full term (full terms are September - Christmas break, January - Easter break, and Easter break - Summer break).

    • For group lessons, cancellations by students are not refundable for any reason, as due to the nature of group lessons they cannot be rescheduled. Recordings of lessons can be made available on request.

    • Clever Owl Maths uses the Wiltshire Council term dates, which are published on the Wiltshire Council website and the Clever Owl Maths website. Lessons run every week in term time.

    • Holiday lessons are available on request, if Clever Owl Maths has availability. You are not guaranteed your usual weekly lesson slot during holiday periods.

    • If a lesson is cancelled by Clever Owl Maths for any reason, you will receive a credit on your next invoice if the lesson cannot be rearranged at a mutually convenient time.

    • Students who are late to lessons will not be given any extra lesson time.

    • If students do not attend their lesson, Clever Owl Maths will attempt to contact the family twice. If there is no reply, the lesson will be cancelled and remains chargeable.

    • For face-to-face lessons, students must be collected on time. Students who are collected late may have late collection fees applied to their next invoice, charged at their usual hourly lesson rate.

    • For online sessions, sessions may be recorded and uploaded for access to students on courses only. Student videos will not be visible on recorded sessions.

    • In the case of connection issues or other technological issues for online lessons, if it is too disruptive for the lesson to continue, Clever Owl Maths will end the lesson and rearrange at a mutually convenient time.

    • Students are expected to have good behaviour throughout tuition sessions and make good effort to participate. Poor behaviour or a severe lack of participation or effort will result in tuition being cancelled with immediate effect.

    • Where homework or extra work outside of lessons is provided, if it is not returned by the deadline then Clever Owl Maths is not obligated to provide marking and feedback.

    • Students must attend lessons in appropriate clothing and in an appropriate location.

    • Students should not be eating during lessons. Students may attend with a drink.

    • For online sessions, an adult must be present in the house/location with the student for the duration of the lesson.

    • Clever Owl Maths will make every effort to improve progress and results of all students, however no guarantees are made and both progress and results are ultimately down to the efforts of individual students.

Meet the tutor

Hi!

I’m Gemma, the face behind Clever Owl Maths Tutoring. I live in Calne, Wiltshire with my husband, two children and our dog.

I am a qualified secondary maths teacher and tutor with 10+ years experience helping learners of a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds improve their maths skills.

Tuition is my passion, and I have had excellent results in helping students who really struggle with maths to improve their confidence and ability, as well as assisting high achieving students to reach or exceed their targets.

I have degrees in Electronic Engineering and Logistics Management, I have qualified teacher status (QTS) and PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. I was also awarded a Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarship, recognising my potential to be an inspirational teacher. I am an ex-British Army officer and current classroom teacher in a secondary school in Wiltshire.
